Sparkidz is a recreational enrichment program. It is a social rather than a therapeutic model. Classes are designed and implemented to allow children with special needs opportunities to enjoy mainstream activities. The Sparkidz staff is trained by the renowned Camp Ramapo for Children and others. Evidenced-based techniques are used to the engage children.
Families are encouraged to complete an application. We will contact families promptly to schedule a phone conversation to lean more about your child.
Yes. We will host several open houses each season. Please contact our main office to confirm when the next open house will be held at (917)930-6446.
Children between the ages of 6 – 21. Children younger or older will be considered on a case by case basis. Please Contact us at our main office to further discuss any specific situations at (917) 930-6446.
Children who have difficulties with social skills, impulsivity and anxiety. Sparkidz include those with ADHD, Anxiety, Autism Spectrum Disorders, PDD-NOS, learning disabilities and other special needs.
Yes. Arrangements can be made for children and families to attend or observe our program.
Children will bring lunch and drinks from home. SparKidz does not prepare or distribute foods with nut ingredients. Parents are asked not to send children to the program with foods containing any nut ingredients
No. Children are not accepted based on an IEP. Sharing of supportive documentation which will help the Sparkidz staff better understand your child is encouraged.
Yes. Medications can be administered by a MAT certified Sparkidz staff member with a prescription from the pediatrician or primary care physician and a signed consent form from the parents/guardians. The Sparkidz medical policy stipulates that the program cannot administer any injectable medication or any oral narcotic. No. Transportation is not offered at this time.
Families are encouraged to enroll for the entire semester and for the full day program. However, half days or preselected Saturdays can be accommodated.
Yes. We have an open and rolling enrollment.
Yes. Sparkidz offers a sliding scale based on financial need and available funding. Families with more than one child enrolled in the program also qualify for an additional 15- 25% discount. It is a goal of Sparkidz to offer 10-20% of enrollment spaces to children with the need for financial support.
The Sparkidz Saturday program is $100 for full day enrollment and $50 for a half day enrollment. Children are not required to be enrolled for the entire year.
Payment can be made with cash, check, money order and credit cards. Payment plans will be considered on an individual basis. A non-refundable one time $25 registration fee is required to secure enrollment. A complete program schedule and policy handbook is available upon enrollment.
